March Niigata/Isawa Shipment Arrival - Kitsu Koi

Our first shipment of the year arrived last night from Japan, in it was a mix of tosai and nisai from Niigata and a few boxes from Isawa Nishikigoi Centre.

They started their journey just before 11am UK time on Thursday, with our friend Masaru Saito (Shintaro Koi Farm) organising the movement of fish from the breeders to Narita Airport.

On Friday morning, the ponds were prepared for the new arrivals with a refresh of the water and adding copious amounts of Evolution Aqua PURE+ Filter Start Gel to cope with the increased stock.

Our plane arrived at approximately 4pm on the Friday at Heathrow Airport. Probably the worst time in the week to be navigating the M25! We arrived at the Animal Reception Centre in good time, just before the truck. Our wait was short - the border inspection took around one hour before the koi were cleared.

Animal Reception Centre - quality Japanese Koi Import

Leaving Heathrow at around 7.30, we made it back to our premises in Sheffield. Times and drives like this we are glad we are ideally situated a few minutes from the M1. We had 29 boxes to carry up to the shop, the back lane still too wet and sludgy to try taking a van up laden with around 700kg of water (the koi weigh nothing compared to the water we ship 6000 miles by expensive air freight).

Kitsu Koi - Import of hand picked quality Japanese koi

I'm pleased to say that all koi from Shintaro, Isawa Nishikigoi Centre, Kanno, Yamazaki, Maruhiro, Marudo, Marusei, Yagenji, Masaki Aoki, and Murata made it in tip top condition.

Unpacking began at around 10.30, and with 4 pairs of hands was completed around 2am. The ponds were then further boosted with Aqua Source Balance ENZYME to ensure that any knocks and bumps from shipping heal in good time and prevent any issues.

Wonderful Kujaku from Masaki Aoki

Yagenji Kikusui - Hand picked koi from Japan - Kitsu Koi

You wouldn't believe this little Kikusui from Yagenji had just travelled from Japan. All arrived in excellent condition.

Tancho Goshiki - Hand picked by Kitsu Koi

Tancho Goshiki. Don't need to say much about this one!
